What is Voluntourism?
Voluntourism is an opportunity for those that have a sense of stewardship and care for their environment, or have a heart to help others. This allows them to take on a project that will make a difference as part of their vacation.
Voluntourism is not about giving away something for nothing - it's about mutal growth through providing assistance and help to others.
There are organizations that have projects that are ongoing throughout the year. The projects can vary from1 week (with options to extend if you wish) up to 1 year.
You must raise funding for your airfare and your stay for the project.
The TEFL (teaching english as a foreign language) program has a different option for those that are certified. They can be placed with a paid position for up to 1 year.
